In the exhibition “We Are the Champions” at The Textile Museum in Herning, Denmark, you can get closer to the biggest stars and smallest heroes as you immerse yourself in a 70-year journey through the history of sports and sportswear. It’s a story about leisure, club life, and major teams, as well as how the evolution of sportswear drives performance on the field and inspires everyday fashion.
At the exhibition, you can explore the history of sportswear—and even get your heart racing on a bike or at the table handball court!
The development of We Are the Champions has been a key case in the 'Museums Green Academy,' focusing on sustainable exhibition production with a clear ambition to reuse materials and existing resources. Concepts like design for disassembly have been incorporated, and plans for reusability and afterlife have been carefully developed. For instance, existing display cases have been integrated as a central element of the design and repurposed with wooden structures made from planks and untreated battens, which can be dismantled and reused.

Feedback
"We have previously worked with Torden og Lynild with great satisfaction. Therefore, it was a natural choice for us to contact them again in connection with 'We are the Champions' – an exhibition about sports, clothing, and communities. Once again, we were not disappointed. We wanted a partner who dares to incorporate senses and emotions into the exhibition. With their bold choices of colors and shapes, we have achieved our ambition. It is evident that their background in theatrical scenography and dramaturgy provides a creative and sensory approach to the exhibition medium, which has added a unique and decisive layer to the narrative. We have been very satisfied with the collaboration!"
