The decommissioned Herning Clothing Factory forms the basis of the Textile Museum, which tells the story of Central Jutland’s textile industry. Torden & Lynild provided concept design as well as the design of a new permanent exhibition, children’s area, café, and shop. The exhibition draws in the historical building while simultaneously utilising modern narrative tools such as scenography, digital installations and film, which, together with objects and text, convey the many stories contained within. The unified plan for the exhibition, children’s area, café, and the shop gives visitors a strong sense of wholeness from the time they arrive to when they leave the museum.

The story is told without detours and gives easily understandable looks into otherwise complicated economic, social and cultural conditions (...) For Central Jutland I can see no other possibility than the exhibition being a much-needed, massive anchor for the population's identity.
