The decommissioned Herning Clothing Factory forms the basis of the Textile Museum, which tells the story of Central Jutland’s textile industry. Torden & Lynild provided concept design as well as the design of a new permanent exhibition, children’s area, café, and shop. The exhibition draws in the historical building while simultaneously utilising modern narrative tools such as scenography, digital installations and film, which, together with objects and text, convey the many stories contained within. The unified plan for the exhibition, children’s area, café, and the shop gives visitors a strong sense of wholeness from the time they arrive to when they leave the museum.

Feedback
"The textile museum tells an innovative and lively story from when Central Jutland was booming, and is a successful combination of a regional museum and Danish industrial history with a global perspective (...) It is a truly wonderful museum that succeeds in both being a regional museum for Herning and its surroundings while still being able to convey an industrial history that has been important to the whole country – with a significant global perspective "

"Exhibition design & scenography was provided by Torden & Lynild (...) I am quite simply astonished. The exhibition delivers what is promised in the press release. In a chronologically constructed exhibition, we pass through the Central Jutland textile industry’s development from its first post-war years and up to the globalisation of the last decades. The story is told without detours and gives easily understandable looks into otherwise complicated economic, social and cultural conditions (...) For Central Jutland I can see no other possibility than the exhibition being a much-needed, massive anchor for the population's identity. I can only recommend that others take a trip to MADE IN MIDTJYLLAND"

"TORDEN OG LYNILD HAS BEEN A FANTASTIC COOPERATION PARTNER IN CONNECTION WITH OUR NEW EXHIBITION ‘MADE IN MIDTJYLLAND’. WE WANTED AN EXHIBITION WHERE THE NARRATIVE AND THE VISITOR IS IN FOCUS – AND THAT'S WHAT GOT! THE EXHIBITION DESIGN AND SCENOGRAPHY ADDS VALUABLE LAYERS TO THE STORY WITHOUT OVERWHELMING IT. THEY ALSO HELPED US ENSURE A WELL-STRUCTURED AND COMFORTABLE COURSE"

During the construction process. Here, some of the large display cases are being gathered in the former clothing factory, which today houses the Textile Museum. All the display cases were specially designed and built for the project.
Different tapestries were designed for the exhibition, and these were manufactured by Ege Tæpper. Here, the intro room is being constructed, which among other things is completed with a tapestry bearing the exhibition title ‘Made in Central Jutland’.
